Guavaberry Golf and Country Club - Dominican Republic (Santo Domingo)
Review by Alan Phillips - December 2006
From where our ship was docked in Santo Domingo, we drove east along the coast on a good, fast dual carriageway. On arrival at Guavaberry, I was pleased to find a very attractive and well-maintained golf course which was in superb condition.
We played as a fourball in two buggies with two young caddies – one of whom spoke some English (Spanish being their mother tongue) and both were very friendly and helpful. They knew the greens and read them quite well. The 13th and 15th par 3s are the most memorable holes. Both are short holes and the 13th features water and a waterfall . The 15th has an island green offering a large-enough target to hit.
All in all, Guavaberry is fairly flat with some undulations and provides a very fair test of golf and we all managed to score quite well. We had a very enjoyable outing to such a lovely course.
